Gone are the days of prim and proper schoolmarm; replaced with sophistication and charm, a modern twist on the traditional Maryjane, these platform, chunky-heeled beauties in a rich suede upper are a must have for any shoe aficionado!
When looking for a Mayjane style of shoe, the main thing to consider is the strap; at varying heights along the vamp, the strap can be found from within inches of the toe box, all the way up to the ankle (as pictured below). These, like the traditional flat kind worn by the eponymous character in the Buster Brown comic strip, fasten with a buckle and are adjustable, whereas many found lower on the vamp, are merely for decoration.
